About the Demo Beta

Let 's explain what you're downloading: this is the beta version of the demo that Quartermunchers will be releasing on Steam for the October 2024 NextFest. IT IS NOT A COMPLETE   GAME!  (It ain't even a finished demo!)

XX Delicto is a UE5 title, which means that you'll probably want a pretty beefy system to run it on. I've run it on Steam Deck with FSR2 and it has been playable but UGLY.   You'll definitely want discrete graphics with as much VRAM as you can throw at it.

I am releasing it here in the hopes of getting some feedback on  performance issues, gameplay, mechanics,  balance, and anything else you might care to comment on.   I would ask you to bear in mind the following:

• This is a solo dev project, from a solo dev who already has two other jobs.
• XX Delicto is (quite literally) a game with no budget.  
• The  finished game will cost $11.99. In fact, the price is    pegged to the cost of four episodes of Peppa Pig since a flawless run of the game- good luck!- would probably take about the same amount of time.
• Although the game wears its DMC/Bayonetta-worship on its sleeve the combat is much closer to Golden Axe than it is to either of them.  See the first two points if this surprises you. 
• The finished game has  more levels, more unlockable outfits, different bosses,  more upgrades, and more story than the demo.

• XX Delicto comes from a place of love and respect, and I know that the vast, overwhelming majority of you  hail from the same neighborhood. 
• Comments  deriding me as a "communist", "faggot", "DEI simp",  or "woke" will only be considered if you have 3+ games available on Itch, so please list them (in order of release)   if you decide that the existence of XX Delicto (or that of the developer) offends you.
•  Comments deriding me as "sexist" or "misogynist" will only be addressed if you can provide two healthier ways for a dev   to deal with a double mastectomy than making a jiggly-pixeled muscle mommy power fantasy  and donating some of the proceeds to breast cancer research.  (Don't bother suggesting a cancer-themed SHMUP: tried it, didn't scratch the itch...)

The Story

When ex-cop Velocity's cancer-riddled rebel girlfriend disappears she tears off across the Scorch, a stretch of toxic wasteland and favelas outside the American capital of Coastal Ohio. 

 Along the way she does battle with rampaging gangs of Lost Girls and her former colleagues in the ultra-violent COPD, before launching an all-out assault on the Rubin Complex where a garrison of pneumatic boffin kunoichi awaits. 

Will Velocity rescue Tranquility before she falls foul of the Sisterhood of the Holy Entrepreneuriat's eugenists- and before her girlfriend's cancer puts paid to the long-anticipated revolution?

Gameplay

Hack'n'slash shenanigans ensue, with Velocity attacking, specialing, projectiling, dashing, and blocking her way through 15 punishing levels and bosses! Powers will be upgraded, health bars will grow, and wardrobe items of varying quality and dubious taste will be unlocked!

So if you're ready for the challenge, fire up XX Delicto today and prepare for truly mind-blowing levels of cognitive dissonance!
